Underground Hip Hop

Underground Hip Hop
If you’re sick of the hip hop artists that talk about gunshot wounds, cars and a life of luxury over and over again, maybe it’s time for you to start listening to underground hip hop.
Compared to mainstream hip hop where the artists have been ordered to portray the life of a Don, underground hip hop pretty much antagonises all that. At the underbelly of society, what you get from artists from the underground is realer than real. If you want to hear the pains of the youth, the cries for freedom and the will to survive in this world in a raw manner, uncoerced by studio execs, then underground Hip hop is what you need. Although sadly, these artists from the underground who prefer to stay underground start out poor also die poor. Read More
What are Underground Rap Lyrics?

What are Underground Rap Lyrics?
How can you differentiate underground rap lyrics from the lyrics of any other artists? Well, for one, undeniably, underground rap lyrics are raw. They come from within and speak directly from the soul. Usually, it deals with topics that try to open peoples’ eyes to the different wrong doings our society today tries to cover up. These rhymes frequently speak of poverty, untimely deaths, the government and its inability to aid its constituents, the ghetto life and the hopes and dreams of the forgotten.
These raps are the people’s cry for help and sadly, almost too often, they go unheard. This is the case because these raps are the ones you probably might not care to hear because instead of giving you an escape from everyday life, they actually reinforce the troubles we care to disregard in today’s community. The Rap Video Girls or Hip Hop Honeys

The rap video girls
In all the hip hop music videos, aside from the over flowing champagne, stunner shades and wicked auto mobiles, another thing in common is the rap video girls or the hip hop honeys. They are the girls rap stars place in the background dancing like there is no tomorrow.
Back in the day, it was not called rap video girls but rather Fly Girls. One famous fly girl that soared to international success is none other than J. Lo herself. Anyway, rap video girls add a certain spice to music videos. They heat up the screens with their gyrating moves that turn men into jell- o. On the contrary, these girls are not predominantly beautiful black women. They can be of any race ( Latina, Canadian…), as long as they got the face and body and well within the 19 to 28 yr old bracket. Read More

Freestyle Rap Lyrics and Freestyle Rapping – Through the Years

Freestyle Rap Lyrics Through the Years
To really test an emcee’ s skill on the M – I – C, better have him spit out a couple of freestyle rap lyrics. See, there are 2 definitions of freestyle rap. The first one that the old school heads refer to is done basically free of form, written then memorized and of course usually brags about one’s self. The new generation though, when they do freestyle rap lyrics, they end up speaking what’s off the top of their heads, improvising on their flow so their rhymes make sense.
Surprising, I know but a movement as underground as this does have many remarkable aspects. This sudden change in definition of freestyle rapping is suggested to have taken place in the mid to late 1980’s. Kool Mode Dee, one of the first few Grammy award winning rappers claim that before the 1990 ’s, freestyle rap lyrics were all about the written word that exhibit one’s lyrical prowess. Read More
One of the Best Rap Songs, Rapper’s Delight

Whenever you ask a regular person to spit out a few verses of rhyme from the mind, more often than not, they would end up reciting lines from one of the best rap songs in the whole world, Sugar Hill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight.
Personally, this rhyme is catchy as hell and easy to memorize. And thanks to that Adam Sandler movie the Wedding Singer, even old ladies have now learned a thing or two about hip hop. This 1979 single by the American trio SHG is considered to be the very first song that popularized hip hop in the United States. The Rolling Stone magazine even ranked this gem at #248 in the 500 greatest song of All Time, while VH1 ranked it #2 in the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs. Read More

From the current top 100 rap songs...
Looking through the different charts of rap music online, I could tell which ones were the current top 100 rap songs people were diggin’ on an international scale. These jams are this week’s most popular rap songs that have been ranked by mainstream R & B/ hip hop and rhythmic radio airplay audience impressions as measured by Neilsen BDS.
For the number one, it’s no wonder that the current favourite is B.o.B ft. Bruno Mars’ Nothin’ On You. This track is infectious! With its dope video and catchy chorus, I agree that this one should be on top right now. And it don’t hurt that Bruno Mars is kind of a hottie.
Timabaland’s Say Something is also in the top 100. He’s the man so I pretty much already expected one of his singles on the chart. Ludacris has 2 tracks (My Chick Bad and How Low) in the top 100. Nothing unusual for our boy Luda. T.I.; the King of the South is back with his track, efficiently titled I’m Back. This song is pretty tight. Seems like he’s convincing everybody to forget about his incarceration or is it only me? Read More
