With the hip-hop scene recovering, and Pittsburgh making its permanent spot on the map with emcees like Wiz Khalifa and Boaz, comes Mac Miller an 18 year old Point Breeze Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania resident that like many others went from rapping in a basement to now rapping in a studio.
Miller has style and lyricism like no emcee in the game from rapping about his love of marijuana and sneakers to his average life as a kid living in Pittsburgh. Miller started rapping at the age of 9 and later on formed the group The Ill spoken with his buddy Beedie.
Setting his foot in the game releasing mix tapes and opening for Artists such as Soulja Boy and Young Jeezy .His ideas for himself and the game are very pure with him stating ”I draw inspiration from everything. Old school rap, new school rap, my city, my peers, my life, anything.
I just aim to make a new sound of my own, while sticking to the formula of that classic hip hop music.” His latest Mixtape K.I.D.S (Kickin’ Incredible Dope S*it) caught the eye of many, and is now spitting for Rostrum Records same label as Wiz Khalifa. His Videos posted by TreeJTV on YouTube have hit over 1 million views in less than a month along with many positive reviews for songs like “Senior Skip Day” and “Kool-aid and frozen pizza”.
In my opinion his flow is very original and catchy along with the beats his music sends out that vibe that makes you want to tap your foot and bop your head. Many have stated that he is the next Eminem but I would have to disagree and say he is the first Mac Miller. Miller alongside his long time friend and very talented producer Big Jerm are making some serious moves in the rap game and should not be taken lightly .This talented emcee will most likely be another to hit superstardom
